Pedagogical Practices and Observations

One of my main pedagogical focuses with the Photography class was ensuring they had the basics of manual exposure thoroughly explained to them. One of the challenges here was tailoring the lesson to multiple grade levels. I found that using visual aids to support and illustrate the topics covered in the lesson.

I found that setting clear expectations for the class aided the students in that there was no confusion over the results that I expected to see from them.

The students responded well to the structure of alternating hands-on work with lecture.

Team teaching with the classroom teacher, Mrs. Mottern was extremely beneficial in that she already had a rapport built with the students and was able to supplement the information and suggest additional resources and references that helped support the lessons I was introducing.

Using visual aids inspired the students and helped them grasp topics, especially abstract ones.
